A year or so ago I went to a local movie theatre where they were live broadcasting a production (New York Opera I think) of Tristan and Isolde. It was much different than I expected, and I loved it. All I knew going in was Wagner's beautiful, enigmatic overature, one of my favorite ever pieces of music, and that it was about a tragic pair of lovers.
