Agriculture is by far the biggest consumer of water in California. Curbing water usage by individual homeowners has negligible impact. Therefore I do not think it is necessary or helpful to go so far as to collect shower water. Nevertheless, I do subscribe to curbing frivolous water usage on lawns, pools, long showers, and the like, even if it really isn't particularly helpful. I would love to see some golf courses going brown.
