Aww, c'mon Anatta. I'm not an uber-trekkie but I think you are being awfully hard on Lt. Commander Data. It is pretty clear that he did have a sense of self and subjective experience. That was the point, really, whether a mechanical man who had a fully human-like consciousness should be accepted legally and socially as a human. Captain Picard certainly thought he should be.
