Based on our sample of one, I believe we now know that there is, in fact, a Great Filter, and that is the fact that industrial civilisation, which is necessary to become an RF broadcasting or spacefaring people, is incompatible with life on a planet. Being as we are currently at the point of choosing to either give up on our industrial civilisation, or continue with it and kill all life on earth—at least, all life capable of industrial civilzation. We've made a pretty good start on the latter path.
