Gifts are for children. Do not give adults gifts. (Except jewelry to a romantic partner.) If an adult needs a gift to know you love them, there is no hope for them anyway. I particularly loathe gift cards. They are just inconvenient cash, and giving cash is crass, unless it is coming from your parents or grandparents. If you must give a gift to an adult, make it flowers or a fruit basket. Everyone loves a fruit basket, amirite? (I'm a-little-less-than-half joking with this comment.)
