Hey Nikodem! Yours is the only comment (that I noticed) that mentions Dockers. I run a bunch of Docker containers to model a network of systems, typically 5 or 6 containers. I waited years to finally get a Mac Pro with more than 16 GB memory, and when the 16" came out a couple of years ago, I jumped right up to 64GB. Runs great!! But now I am upset with Apple because the new M1 Pro is being offered with only 32GB while the M1 Max gets you 64GB. I don't mind paying for the extra memory, but I hate paying for the extra GPU cores, which I absolutely do not need. I understand their reasoning, that more memory is needed for the graphics memory for video editing, but I need the extra memory for Docker containers. You too? So my dilemma is whether the 32GB M1 Pro is going to be good enough for me, or whether I need to pony up for the M1 Max and get 64GB. I notice my current memory usage typically runs aobut 40 or 50 GB, but of course the 32GB model would just swap out more to SSD. I suppose that wouldn't matter, since I am not worried about "buttery smooth UX." I wonder if you have an opinion for me? Arrgh! I'll bet the M1 Pro is perfectly caoable of supporting 64GB, they just won't give it me!
