I don't understand your quote from Peter Brannen or your overall point about where our oxygen comes from. Plant stuff gets buried where oxygen cannot get to it and decompose it, so it turns into oil and coal, but how does that cause the oxygen in the atmosphere to rise? I thought the 20.9% oxygen in the atmosphere came from the phytoplankton in the oceans for millions of years, not the suff buried underground.
