I really really want a M1 Pro with 64 GB but I can't get that, so it's an M1 Max for me, even though I have absolutely no need for more GPU cores. I run a bunch of VM's so the more memory the merrier, Besides, I can afford it as a highly paid software engineer: it's a quite small percentage of my annual income. I should make the company pay for it, but I vowed never again to have to turn in my computer at the end of my employment! (Yes, the right solution is to have a separate computer for personal use, but work life and personal life are so intertwined these days, it is easier to use a single computer.)
