I'm surprised at how many respondents are endorsing Giles' thesis. That the pace of technological change is accelerating was perhaps most famously described by Alvin Toffler in 1970's Future Shock, and the acceleration continues through today. I think I read that the uptake of ChatCPT has been faster than any other product in history.
