IMHO Typscript thrives for one reason and one reason only, and it is the very first sentence of its Wikipedia entry: "TypeScript is a programming language developed and maintained by Microsoft. " Without MS supporting it and MS pushing it (and Google, too, with Angular 2), it would be condemnd to the dustbin of history just like CoffeeScript.
