Liu Cixin is incredibly and refreshingly clever and scientifically informed, and a great, imaginative writer. I'm sure he knows it when he violates the rules of physics, but it makes for great story-telling, doesn't it? When futuristic stories have impossible inventions, I think of them as place-holders for incredible but possible inventions of the future that we cannot imagine today. So worry about the unknown unkowns!
