"Many elections in all those areas are decided by the slimmest of margins." You are right, Mark. I didn't think of that. Well the solution of splitting the country may be wrong, but I like my theory about the stupendous resources on each side swamping individual values. So that gets us back to campaign finance reform and public financing of elections as the solution space. But I think we're even beyond that when we have a two party system and one party does not support the system itself. I'd rather see half of the country go fascist than all of it, no matter how unfair it is.
