Not to take away from the point of your excellent rant, which I agree with 100%, but just to engage in some basic math education: Had we blown past it by just a single order of magnitude, we would need 10 earths to sustain us, not 5. Two orders of magnitude: 100 earths. (And don't even get me started on "exponentially more", which you wisely avoided in this article.)
