Putting aside the movie's reprehensible portrayal of slavery (which should certainly not be put aside), and cheesy melodramatic plot, and many one-dimensional characters (not including the leads), GWTW is a sterling example of great movie direction and photography. On that basis alone it deserves to remain available for audiences and movie professionals to study and enjoy. Not a hill I'm willing to die on, but I think it's where I come out.
