Really interesting thoughts, Michael. I think some of why we doom is a hangover from when we first began dooming because, then, there was still a hope of being able to turn it around if enough people understood. But that ship has sailed and we've pretty much let that go. A lot of it now is just maintaining our doom echo chamber to remind each other that we're not crazy for believing what we believe. After all, we are mostly preaching to the choir. And a lot of it is just introspection (extro-spection?), trying to make sense of what is happening in the senseless world around us. It does matter, though maybe only to our own peace of mind.
