Reminds me of the larger issue of loss of public spaces in general. I remember someone commenting that we no longer have town squares where you can protest or get up on your soapbox and speak freely. Now the town gathering place is the mall, a privately-owned space, and just try protesting or free speaking there. Of course, I also remember how the Occupy Wall Street protesters were (quite viciously) rousted out of public parks, too, so that is loss of a public space in a different way.
