Thanks Frederick! Fascinating stuff that was unaware was happening. I thought we needed to make a lot of progress on superconducting power transmission lines before we could really upgrade our long-distance power transmission, but I guess a million-volt ultra-high voltage transmission line is almost as good. My 100-watt light bulb takes only 100 microamps across the million-volt line, so not much voltage drop there. (Of course, I don’t really have a 100-watt light bulb because we used LED bulbs now.) The politics of it are fascinating too. However, a million-volt transmission line scares the bejezus out of me!
