Well said, Dick! I especially like “putting the electric cart before the horse”! You are so right that climate change is the big unknown in all plans going forward. It would seem that if we choose to mitigate the climate crisis in any meaningful way, which is doubtful, the grid issues you discuss have to be attacked and quickly. I’m all for fewer private vehicles of any stripe, and more public transport of every stripe. Automobiles have been a big driver of climate and should have been phased out in favor of more clean, efficient solutions long ago. (I’m sure you remember Jimmy Carter, Dick.) From the larger to the smaller concerns, hey, I agree that anybody who takes 700 mile trips regularly is not a good candidate for an EV in the near future. However, I know some poeple like to rent a car for the occasional long trip, and that’s just to save wear and tear on their own vehicles. Or maybe to have a larger vehicle to carry more people or luggage. Anyway, enjoy your sunset years however you like, Dick! I’m sure you earned it. And clear the way, I’m right behind you by just a couple of years.
