Well that was my feeling as well, until recently, and I still support it as a legitimate position. But one can hope for orderly shutdown of the plants rather than just leaving them to melt down and have hydrogen explosions to release and spread the radioactivity. And yeah there will be radiation contamination eventually, when nobody is minding the cooling ponds etc., but I'm thinking that will be localized and not take down the whole planet. If the damage is localized, and mostly to humans, then I no longer think it is worth fighting against. Let the nuke-heads have their fun, and I hope that just maybe they are right.
