Yes the term social contagion is being applied to transgender people with the meaning that kids are turning transgender just because they are exposed to transgender people and transgender concepts. And that is simply not true. Those who use the term social contagion often follow it up with "because kids think it is cool to be transgender now." Wrong again, and definitely using the term social contagion the way you define it.
