Yikes! It echoes of DRM all over again. Totally for the benefit of the corporations, not the users. No doubt we'd get a law making it illegal to tamper with it or reverse engineer it. You say our human society needs trust, but C2PA is the very opposite of trust. It says, "Don't trust anything that hasn't got the mark of Satan." Then we have to worry about whether the content is trustworthy AND whether the C2PA code is trustworthy!
