You are on a roll, Richard!
Recently I was thinking about one of the reasons I, and many others, are dismissive about a new U.S. civil war, which is because of the overwhelming might of our military. Given that the military, on whole, stays loyal, as it seems to be doing, there is no way a rebellion could stand up to it, amirite? But then I got to thinking, maybe the new civil war will be like Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq: asymmetric warfare where American military might was unable to triumph. Now I'm very worried. Or like Ukraine, with Russia arming the U.S. rebels. Oh my. (I call them rebels, but they see themselves as protecting their homeland, just like Ukraine, just like the South in the 19th century U.S. civil war.)
